Monday's Musical Delight: Playlist #30: An Homage To Men

As you may have noticed, we spent most of the past few weeks working on our men's jewelry collection. Of course, we wouldn't have made this collection if we didn't love men so much (because we do, and sometimes that just needs to be said ;) ), so I figured a little homage in the form of a playlist would be fitting. Enjoy!

Love,
Lisa

PS: My apologies for the more somber song at the end, but it's one of my favourite songs about men ever, so I had to put it in here!

PPS: I never noticed how incredibly hard it is to find positive songs about men.. Do you know any?

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #29: Indie Invasion

Yesterday, Ivanna and I worked all day on gathering new supplies for the major projects we have coming up in the course of the next few months - Queensday, our men's bracelets (which we will probably be finishing this week!), and some new, secret plans. We ordered some of it online, mostly things we were running short on, but we also received an enormous amount of new materials from Ivanna's mother in law :D It's such a shame we can't show you, seeing as we don't want to give away our new plans yet..

But we really have an awful lot of materials now, and still the same tiny bit of space to store it. So today, I spent most of the day reorganising everything, which is actually quite a fun job if you have nice music playing in the background!

xx
Lisa

PS: I know "indie" is not really a genre; it just covered all the songs in the list so nicely ;)

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #28: Modern Soul

When people ask me what kind of music I like, I usually respond with "uhm pop? and rock..?", because these words pretty much encompass half of modern day music, and most people understand what you mean by it. Of course, these descriptions are pretty vague (and boring), and can quite easily be subdivided in and led back to many other genres, that are far more specific. Like bluesrock. Or Britpop. Or death metal. When you look at it like that, I really like a lot of genres! One of the genres that I have been listening to a lot lately, is soul. Not the original soul though, but things they call "neo soul" and "blue-eyed soul" nowadays (because we love making up new labels :p) But that's enough talk for now - bring on the music!

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #27: Get On Your Dancing Shoes

For today's Musical Delight, I planned to make a playlist with modern soul songs, but since today is such a happy day for me (my boyfriend and I are celebrating our 9 year anniversary!), I decided to postpone it. Soul isn't particularly cheerful after all :p So, let's celebrate the start of this wonderful week by dancing our way into it to these joyful tunes! Enjoy!

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #26: Love Songs

With Valentine's Day around the corner, I thought it fitting to make a list of love songs. Since most of the (pop) songs throughout history are about love, I had to make a thorough selection :p You might notice most of the songs are pretty old, which has mostly to do with my fondness of old music. Also, most of today's love songs seem to be very cynical and bitter, and often seem to address unanswered love and broken hearts, wheres the older songs are more happy and uplifting! Or maybe it's just my blurred vision :p Anyways, have a great week, and I hope these songs with put you in the mood for Valentine's Day!

Love,
Lisa

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #25: Guitar Songs

Since I've already made two playlists with Drum Songs, I figured it would also be fun to make one with songs that I like to play on the guitar. I haven't really played guitar in quite a while, but since I put a set of new strings on my acoustic western, I really felt like playing again! Mind you, I'm not the next Jimmy Page or something, so the songs I play are rather simple, but they are fun nonetheless! And if you don't want to play along, they're quite nice to listen to as well ;)

Have a great week!

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #24: Drums Songs 2

A long, long time ago, I promised you I would post another playlist of drum songs, so here it is. These are songs that I like to drum to when I'm warming up, or when I don't really have anything better to do. Most of them I can play pretty smoothly, but some of them I'm still trying to learn. (So, in case you were impressed to hear No One Knows and Pretty Visitors - don't be :p) Anyways, have a good listen, and enjoy!

xx Lisa

PS: I would love to hear suggestions for songs I can play along with!

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #23: Blue Monday

It's hard to miss that today is "Blue Monday", which is said to be the most depressing day of the year. I don't really believe this myself - all Mondays are all equally depressing to me, especially when it's raining :p However, for those of you who woke up this morning feeling a bit down, I made a "happy" playlist. Let's see how blue you can be, when listening to these cheerful tunes!

Have a lovely week!

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #22: Nostalgia

We've had some radio silence lately, because Ivanna and me have been very busy handling orders, and developing new men's bracelets. Also, I spent most of the weekend trying to clean up and reorganise all my stuff, in order to create a little room in my head. Everything turned out great, and I felt very productive, until I made an attempt to organise my CDs. This was actually very counterproductive, because instead of cleaning, it just made me find and listen to CDs I had almost forgotten about. Of course, the first one I played was Spiceworld by the Spice Girls :p And my Bon Jovi albums as well (I was a huge Bon Jovi fan when I was twelve). Anyway, let's have a little trip down memory lane :)

xx Lisa

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #21: Clean-up music

I told you before that I did not really have any New Year's resolutions. However, seeing as I had the day off today, I figured it was the perfect moment to clear out the house. I tell you, it is unbelievable how much stuff a person (in this case: me) can hoard in one year! Of course, this tedious task needed some background music! The list turned out a bit random, bit it wokred just fine for me!

What is your favourite clean-up music?

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #20 The Best Songs of 2013

As the last days of the year are speeding by, and work, plans, and New Year's resolutions are fighting for my attention, I feel like there is only one thing that really matters: a list of my favourite songs from the past year. Sometimes I feel like this year happened so fast, it hardly seems to have happened at all. I'm not saying 2013 wasn't great for me: I got my Bachelor's degree, visited Rock Werchter again with one of my closest friends, made some fantastic trips to Budapest and London - and these are just the "big" events! It just feels so weird, like these things could have happened two weeks ago, or, just as easily, 5 years ago. I guess I'm just not good at tracking time.

When it comes to music, however, it's a completely different story. I know exactly when I heard a song for the first time, in what context, what I was doing, and how it made me feel. To me, all these songs give me a certain outline to remember and place the things that have happened. I'm not going to ramble on about what I felt about every song, and I didn't place them in any particular order either. I just hope you'll enjoy them, and I wish you all the best for the next year!

Lots of love,
Lisa

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #19: Christmas songs

Last night, I had a little discussion on Christmas songs with a friend of mine. He told me he wanted to buy some new Christmas CDs, and I just couldn't believe someone would voluntarily listen to them - let alone spend money on them! But today I realised I don't actually dislike Christmas songs in general, I just don't like the bad ones. Hence, I made you a little playlist with my personal favourite Christmas songs, to prove to you I'm not a total Grinch. I hope you'll enjoy them, and have a wonderful few days!

Happy holidays!
xx Lisa

PS: Don't forget to keep an eye on the blog; something special is bound to happen! :)

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #18: Slightly sentimental

As I was putting this playlist together - which is basically just a handful of songs I've been listening to the last few days - I noticed how awfully sentimental they all are! So, despite my extreme cheerfulness, I do seem to listen to a lot of depressing songs. I sure hope this is not a bad omen or anything. I do not intend to put anyone in a bad mood either, but since they're all so wonderful, I'd like to share them with you anyway. I hope you'll enjoy them!

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #17: A Little Louder

I'm not a naturally productive person to begin with, and every winter, this seems to get a bit worse. Maybe it's the bad weather, or maybe the short days, but I just don't seem to get anything done. In a desperate attempt to shake off these winter blues I decided to listen to to some loud music in order to get myself back on my feet. And I'll tell you something: I think it is actually helping - I'm bursting with energy! Midnight may not be the ideal moment for an energy rush, but hey, it's better than nothing, right? So, for anyone who needs a bit of energy to get started this week, or to blow off some steam: some delightfully loud songs. Enjoy! And don't forget to turn the volume up ;)

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #16: Cheesy Lovesongs

We missed last week's Musical Delight, because we were incredibly busy with our shop, but now that everything is either online or on iets way, we are back on track! Since I had a wonderful day with my boyfriend today, I'm in the mood for some really cheesy lovesongs :p What's your favourite lovesong?

xx Lisa

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #15 Alt-J

Today's playlist is not actually a playlist, but an incredible concert of one of my favourite bands at the moment: Alt-J! I was going to make you guys a real playlist as usual, I really was! The thing is that, as I was putting one together today, I had the greatest difficulty turning off the concert I was listening to (for the seventh time this week). For a moment I tried to convince myself that I really had to turn it off and get to work, but then I figured: why not share this amazing piece of music with our followers? So, there. Just give it a try, and I promise you it will be amazing!

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #14: Invigorating Blues Rock

Today I spent most of the day taking pictures of all the new items we've made this weekend.* It was quite a job, since the light was pretty awful due to the bad weather, and I'm not much of a photographer to begin with.. But, everything turned out just fine, and I actually had loads of fun! I love being productive like this, and I love it even more when I have some catchy tunes playing in the background. For some reason, when I'm working with my hands, I always prefer bluesrock related music, so that's what you'll be getting today. Hope you like it! :)

xx Lisa
*I can't show you any of these yet, but I promise everything will be available in our shop soon, and I also promise we'll post some pictures of the supplies tomorrow! That counts for something, right?

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #13: Happy&Mellow

To everyone who had to go to work/college today: I am terribly sorry for rubbing it in, but I love having Mondays off. I do work on Saturdays, so my weekends are not necessarily longer; they are merely pushed forward one day. It is quite strange, really, because everyone else has to work, and most shops are closed on Monday mornings, so it actually feels like I have two Sundays. Which works great for me - I love Sundays! Anyways - to get to the point - today was lovely and quiet, as usual, and I had loads of time to work on the blog, make some listings for our Etsy shop, knit, and listen to music in my pillow fort (yes, I made a pillow fort as well :p). Overall, today was happy and mellow, and that's exactly what this playlist is like. Enjoy!

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #12 In memory of Lou Reed

Today, I spent most of the day indoors, because it was storming really hard outside. This is usually a great opportunity for me to light some candles and listen to music all day long, and today wasn't any different. Sadly, my musical experience was a bit overshadowed by the passing of Lou Reed yesterday.
For the ones who don't already know this: Lou Reed was a rock musician from New York who became famous with his band The Velvet Underground in the sixties. He has been incredibly influential in the music world and I have admired him for as long as I can remember. So, today, in memory of this wonderful artist, I want to share with you a selection of his work.

Love,

Monday's Musical Delight - Playlist #11: London

At the moment this post is published, I will already be strolling around in London :D I'll stay there from Monday to Thursday, and until I come back, the blog will be in the hands of the lovely Ivanna. But of course, I couldn't leave without making a playlist for this Monday - 10 songs from and about London. Enjoy!

xx Lisa

PS: I promise I will make tons of pictures!
