Preparing for Queensday!

Only one day left until Queensday and I am already celebrating with this cute orange cake. Finally the sun was shining all day and I enjoyed the afternoon with a cup of tea and this delicious treat.

Weekly Inspiration Post

A couple of weeks ago, we started a Weekly Inspiration post (well, actually it’s more of a two-weekly inspiration post, but that doesn’t sound half as catchy) on Facebook. In this post, we arrange a number of the items in our collection, to show you the infinite amount of combinations you can make with our jewelry. We love making these combinations, and we are actually quite proud of the pictures we have produced so far. It is so great to see all these lovely colours and shapes and textures together!

To make up for the weeks we have missed on the blog, the pictures that we posted on Facebook can be found below.

Playlist #4

Even though music is one of my greatest passions, I always seem to be a bit behind on everything. With Asaf Avidan, I had not heard of him until Wankelmuts remix of Reckoning Song came out, and even then it took me quite a while to 1) come across this remix, 2) learn to appreciate it (I’m usually not very fond of electronical remixes of, well, anything), and 3) who the original artist was.

Queensday Bracelets

Since this year's Queensday is extra special, we decided to launch our very own Queensday bracelet in our Etsy shop: Queen For A Day! You may have seen it in our shop already, since it has been for sale for a while now. However, thanks to several requests, we also made a pair of cute, matching earrings :)

Stationery - order "Vlinders in je Buik"

I had almost forgotten about this order until I came across these pictures a couple of days ago. Of course, I could have just left it like that, but these products are just to cute not to show!

A couple of months ago, I read about the webshop “Vlinders in je Buik” (butterflies in your stomach), and fell madly in love with their collection of gift wrapping materials. I am a sucker for pretty paper, washi tape, and post cards, so when I noticed the 10% discount code, I loaded my digital shopping cart with all the gorgeous goods I could find. Three days later, I received my order, and with butterflies in my stomach (see what I did there?) I opened the enormous envelope. The content looked so amazingly cute, I had to capture it for you:

De Koningin van Pieterburen

A while ago I went to Groningen, Pieterburen to volunteer at the Seal Research and Rehabilitation Centre Lenie 't Hart. In this centre, stranded seals that are ill or separated from their mother are rehabilitated until they are strong enough to be released back into the wild. I went there for a full month and stayed at a campus together with 20 other volunteers from all over the world. The volunteerproject was very nice and interesting, I met some great people and getting the chance to get this close to seals and being able to handle them is something I will never forget.

However, during my stay there, I often got bored, because the area is very quiet in contrast to the busy city life that I'm used to. I killed my free-time mainly by cycling along the pastures and farms through the strong sea wind. Luckily, my awesome friends Lisa and Margo came all the way from the other side of the country to visit me! Because it was a long trip for them, I had to look for a place where they could stay at night. There were several Bed & Breakfasts close to my campus, but there was one place that attracted me the most: The Koningin van Pieterburen (translation: The Queen of Pieterburen).
